Waterloo Balcony - Concourse Retail Overhaul & Retail Balcony

Robinson Kenning & Gallagher were approached by Network Rail to develop proposals for the longest retail balcony in the UK station history as part of the £25M improvement scheme at Waterloo station.

Feasibility design included consideration for shopper and passenger movements along a new 220m length balcony, together with conversion of the whole of Network Rail first floor suite of offices, situated over the main station concourse.

RKG prepared detailed tender design for all areas of the retail units, public balcony and concourse alterations together with the introduction of a two storey retail unit & elevated wraparound cocktail bar. The new balcony substantially improves pedestrian flow and rail experience for 300,000 passengers per day whilst providing a shopping destination with over 55,000sqft of new Prime retail space. Designed with crisp and contemporary detailing, for a project value of £25M.
