Ilford Station: Public Toilets & Waiting Room, London

Public Toilets & Waiting Room Refurbishment for Transport for MTR Crossrail

As part of the new Elizabeth Line improvements for MTR Crossrail, RKG produced outline design options for the refurbishment of the existing public toilet and waiting room at Ilford Station, London. A preferred option was then developed to detailed design stage and tendered by MTR Crossrail.

It was important to develop a practical, modern layout (including the introduction of sliding doors) within the confines of an existing period building. Existing brickwork features and internal timber panelling were retained and where required new panelling was matched to maintain the original look. Other materials and finishes were specified to be both practicable and aesthetically pleasing.

Working closely with the Mechanical & Electrical consultant, routing and locations of services were carefully coordinated and located to utilize the available space.
